For some reason, I both love and hate Guts/Casca. I really love both characters individually and adore the chemistry/love between them (their first kiss-scene was also the cutest thing I’ve ever laid my eyes upon!), but something just makes me dislike them together. Every time they’re the center of the story, I’m stuck between these two emotions and it often makes it difficult for me to enjoy their relationship as much as I’d love to. I do believe Guts deserves to “reunite” with Casca after all the hardships both of them have gone through!

I actually liked Puck in the very beginning of the manga, but when he imitating Yoda and making fourth wall jokes and basically became nothing but comic relief I really got tired of him. It’s a shame though, because I kind of liked how he was this character that was always so naive, innocent, cheerful and actually had substantial emotional responses to what was going on. Now…. he’s just kinda there, and annoying. The times where he actually feels like a person anymore are very few.
I wish Miura would consider writing him as more of an actual character again instead of just a comedic pest.

Has any one else noticed how much Shisu (Guts’ mother) acted like Casca (After the god hand)?

Roshinu’s ( butterfly girl) death was really dark. I mean, she got stabbed in the back by a sharp piece of metal while she was talking to her best friend about getting out of that forestburn alive . And Gut’s sword went right besides Jill’s head, spilling blood all over her face and making a child in cocoon state drop in her lap. Then butterfly girl flew just to get stabbed again.
I know she was an apostle, but… DAYYYYYM!!!

I really liked the Lost Children ARC. It showed how Guts changed after the Eclipse, and how out of control he can get when alone and pushed to the limit. It’s very dark ( he kills children and the children kill themselves while playing, and the aweasome artwork really makes it even darker), especially when Guts cut through one of the cocoons and stood there, with the child’s entrails in his mouth. There are aweasome fights in this arc too, like Guts vs MantisMan and BeattleMan.
In general, it showed Guts depends on people not to go just apeshit insane and start eating people.

I do wander if the Counts daughter’s threat of killing Guts herself will ever be carried out.

Fate or not, humanity’s dream or not, I think that Griffith is ultimately a “fixer” type. I think that’s why he wanted Guts around and had the dream he did. He is attracted to what/who is broken and wants to fix everything/one.

I think the Lost Children arc is a pointless waste-of-time filler-ish story. It adds nothing to the overall plot and does nothing but reinforce Guts’ ruthlessness. People seem to like it because “He’s killing children! So dark and edgy!”

Berserk has definitely made on my favorites list. The number one being Promethea by Alan Moore. I wonder if either has read each other’s works.
